Amazon Product Video Requirements (2026): Specs, Who Can Upload and Rules

Amazon product video requirements, in short: upload MP4 or MOV files, 1080p (1920×1080) recommended and 720p as a safe minimum, 16:9 preferred, under 5 GB. Videos need no prices, promotions, time-sensitive claims, external links or mentions of other sellers. Brand Registry owners and vendors can upload; other sellers may not see the option.

A product video sits in the image block at the top of the detail page, right where shoppers decide, and can also appear in the related videos section further down. It's the closest thing to holding the product. This guide covers who can upload, the technical specs (and where sources disagree), the content rules that get videos rejected, what to film, and how to get your video approved first time.

The short version
  • Who: brand owners in Amazon Brand Registry (in Seller Central) and vendors. Availability for other sellers varies by marketplace and category.
  • Format: MP4 or MOV, 1920×1080 recommended, 16:9 preferred.
  • File size: up to 5 GB for listing videos; the 500 MB figure you'll see applies to ads and Stores.
  • Banned: prices, discounts, "new" or "limited time", links and contact details, reviews and ratings, other sellers or marketplaces.
  • Review: usually one to a few days; check status in Upload and Manage Videos.

Who can upload product videos on Amazon?

Brand owners enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry can upload product videos in Seller Central, and vendors can upload in Vendor Central. Beyond that, access varies: some US sellers without Brand Registry report seeing the upload tool in certain categories, while in other marketplaces it's limited to brands and vendors.

The quickest test: in Seller Central, open the Catalog menu and look for Upload and Manage Videos. If it's there, you can upload; if it isn't, your account isn't eligible for that marketplace yet. Resellers of another company's brand generally can't add brand videos to that listing.

Don't use a buyer account to post videos on your own listing

Some guides suggest uploading through a customer account to the related videos section. Posting about your own products from a buyer account can break Amazon's rules on customer content and reviews. Use the seller tools, or Amazon's creator and influencer programs, instead.

What are Amazon's product video specs?

Use an MP4 or MOV file at 1920×1080 in 16:9, under 5 GB. Amazon's exact limits aren't all public outside Seller Central, and published guides disagree on some numbers, so the table gives the safe target alongside the figures you'll see quoted.

Amazon's product video eligibility and specs were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

The upload screen tells you if a file is rejected for format or size, so check it before you finalize a long edit. If you sell in several Amazon marketplaces, check each one; tools and limits differ between the US, UK and EU stores.

What content is not allowed in Amazon product videos?

Amazon rejects videos for promotional, time-sensitive or off-Amazon content far more often than for technical problems. Keep all of these out of the footage, on-screen text, voiceover and thumbnail:

  • Prices and promotions: "only $19.99", "20% off", "free shipping", "deal".
  • Time-sensitive claims: "new", "limited time", "this week only", holiday deadlines.
  • External links and contact details: URLs, social handles, phone numbers, QR codes.
  • Other sellers or marketplaces: "also on our website", competitor names.
  • Reviews and ratings: star ratings, customer quotes, "5-star rated".
  • Unproven claims: "#1", "best-selling", health or medical claims you can't support.
  • A different product: another color, size or model than the ASINs the video is attached to.
  • General community rule breaks: profanity, offensive content, private information, music you don't have rights to.

How do you upload a product video on Amazon?

  1. In Seller Central, go to Catalog > Upload and Manage Videos.
  2. Click Upload video and choose your MP4 or MOV file.
  3. Add a clear, descriptive title. It can appear to shoppers, so no prices or promotions here either.
  4. Add the ASINs the video applies to. One video can cover several closely related products, such as colors of the same item.
  5. Choose or upload a thumbnail that shows the product clearly.
  6. Submit. Track the review status in the same page; if it's rejected, Amazon gives a reason.

Review usually takes from about a day to a few days. If a video is rejected, fix the specific issue (often a word in the on-screen text) and upload again rather than appealing.

What makes a good Amazon product video?

The best Amazon videos answer the questions your images can't, in the first few seconds, because many shoppers watch without sound. Ideas that work across categories:

Video typeWhat it showsIdeal length
Product overviewThe product from every angle, in hand, key features with short captions30–60 s
Demo or how-toThe product being used, start to finish45–90 s
Size and scaleThe product next to familiar objects or in a hand15–30 s
UnboxingWhat's in the box and how it's packed30–60 s
Problem and solutionThe everyday problem, then the product solving it30–60 s
Comparison (your own range)Differences between your sizes or models30–60 s
  • Show the product in the first two seconds.
  • Add burned-in captions for key points, since much viewing is muted.
  • Film in good light against a clean background, and keep the camera steady.
  • Match the listing. Same color, same size, same packaging as the ASIN.
  • End on the product, not a call to visit your website.

Can you make an Amazon product video from photos?

You can, but check the result against the specs before uploading. A slideshow of your listing photos with captions, edited at 1080p in a free editor such as CapCut, iMovie or Clipchamp, meets the technical requirements and is better than no video. It won't show the product in use, though, so a short real demo filmed on a phone is usually more useful to shoppers.

AI tools can also animate a single photo. AiArter's image-to-video tool makes 5-second clips at 480p (15 credits). That's below the 720p commonly cited as Amazon's minimum, so use those clips for social posts and ads, or as a few seconds of movement inside a longer 1080p edit, not as a standalone listing video. Our guide to turning a product photo into a video covers what animates well and what AI motion still gets wrong.

Frequently asked questions

What are the requirements for Amazon product videos?

Use MP4 or MOV, ideally 1920×1080 in 16:9, under 5 GB. The video must show the product it's attached to and can't include prices, promotions, time-sensitive claims, external links, reviews or references to other sellers.

Can all sellers upload videos on Amazon?

Not always. Brand owners in Amazon Brand Registry and vendors can upload product videos. Some US sellers without Brand Registry see the option in certain categories; check Catalog > Upload and Manage Videos in Seller Central.

How long should an Amazon product video be?

There's no single length that fits every product. 30 to 90 seconds works for most overviews and demos, with the product shown in the first two seconds. Keep size and scale clips shorter.

What resolution should Amazon product videos be?

Aim for 1080p (1920×1080). 720p is commonly cited as the minimum, and lower-resolution video looks poor next to zoomable listing images.

How long does Amazon take to approve a video?

Usually from about a day to a few days. You can track the status in Upload and Manage Videos, and Amazon gives a reason if a video is rejected.

Why was my Amazon video rejected?

Most rejections come from prices or promotions, words like "new" or "limited time", website links, review content, or a video that shows a different product variant. Remove the issue and upload again.
