FAQ

Questions about image cropper

Is the image cropper free?
Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no credits and no watermark.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Cropping runs in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
Does cropping lower the quality?
No. The crop keeps the photo's original pixels and doesn't resize them. If you save as JPG or WebP, the quality slider sets the compression.
Can I crop with the keyboard?
Yes. Tab to the crop box, then use the arrow keys to move it. Hold Shift for bigger steps and Alt to resize it.
Which aspect ratio should I use?
1:1 suits marketplace listings and Instagram posts, 4:5 Instagram portrait posts, 9:16 stories and reels, and 16:9 banners and video thumbnails.
My crop is small. Can I make it bigger?
When the longest side of the crop is under 1000 px, the tool points you to the AI image upscaler, which enlarges photos up to 4× and adds detail. That tool uses credits.
