Walmart product video requirements, in short: upload an .mp4 file under 100 MB in Seller Center (Catalog > Media Library > Add Media > Videos), name it, and attach it to each item by GTIN, up to 50 GTINs at a time. All Marketplace sellers can add video. Walmart publishes no official resolution, length or aspect ratio, so export 1080p, 16:9 or 1:1, 15–60 seconds.
More on this topic: Marketplace image requirements, every guide in one place.
Walmart moved product video into the Seller Center Media Library, and its technical rules now sit in two short PDFs linked from Marketplace Learn. Meanwhile, most guides online quote specs for Walmart Sponsored Video ads, which are a different product with different numbers. This guide separates the official listing video rules from the ad specs, explains the content rules that get videos rejected, and gives safe export settings. For photos, see our Walmart product image requirements. Short on footage? AiArter's image-to-video tool animates a product photo into a 5-second clip.

- Not published: resolution, length, aspect ratio and a per-item video limit.
- Review: every video is reviewed; processing takes under a minute.
What are Walmart's product video requirements?
An .mp4 file under 100 MB, a video name, and the GTIN of every item it belongs to. That is the whole official technical list in Walmart's rich media Technical Requirements PDF (last updated September 17, 2026), which we read in October 2026.
| Spec | Walmart's requirement | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Who can upload | All Marketplace sellers | Marketplace Learn: Media Library guide |
| Where | Seller Center > Catalog > Media Library > Add Media > Videos | Media Library guide |
| File format | .mp4 only | Technical Requirements PDF |
| Maximum file size | 100 MB | Technical Requirements PDF |
| Video name | Required; up to 200 characters | Submission Checklist PDF |
| Items per upload | Up to 50 GTINs | Media Library guide |
| Captions | Optional, recommended; .vtt file | Technical Requirements PDF |
| Processing | Under 60 seconds | Media Library guide |
| Resolution, length, aspect ratio | Not stated | — |
| Videos per item | Not stated | — |
Walmart's listing video rules were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.
Many guides list 1920×1080, 16:9, 5 to 30 seconds and up to 500 MB as Walmart video requirements. Those figures describe Walmart Sponsored Video ads, not videos on a product page. Third-party help docs also say items can carry up to 8 videos plus a 360° view; we couldn't find that on a Walmart page, so treat it as unconfirmed.
What resolution and length should a Walmart product video be?
Walmart doesn't set either, so use settings that play well on any product page: 1920×1080 (16:9) or 1080×1080 (1:1) at 30 fps, 15 to 60 seconds long, exported as H.264 MP4. A one-minute 1080p clip at normal quality is usually well under 100 MB.
| Setting | Our recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1920×1080 or 1080×1080 | Sharp on desktop and phones, small files |
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 or 1:1 | Fits a product page player; 1:1 fills more of a phone screen |
| Length | 15–60 seconds | Long enough to demo, short enough to watch |
| Codec | H.264 in an .mp4 file | The most widely compatible MP4 codec |
| Frame rate | 30 fps | Standard and smaller than 60 fps |
| Target file size | Under 80 MB | Walmart warns files near 100 MB may still fail |
Shooting on an iPhone? Set Camera > Formats to Most Compatible so it records H.264 instead of HEVC, or export an H.264 copy before uploading.
How do you upload a product video on Walmart?
- In Seller Center, open Catalog > Media Library.
- Choose Add Media, then Videos, and upload your .mp4 file.
- Give the video a clear name (up to 200 characters) and add a .vtt caption file if you have one.
- Enter the GTINs it applies to, up to 50 at a time.
- Submit. Processing takes under a minute; the video then goes through review before it shows.
Walmart's guide says publishing to the catalog can take a few hours after approval, so check the item page later rather than straight away.
What content gets a Walmart product video rejected?
Walmart reviews every video. The Technical Requirements PDF lists the rules that matter most:
- No pop-ups or redirect links in the video.
- No flashing more than three times per second.
- Readable text: on-screen text must meet WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1, or 3:1 for text larger than 18 px).
- Truthful claims: claims must meet FTC Truth in Advertising rules.
- Prohibited products policy: videos breaking it are rejected.
- AI-generated content must be accurate and you must have the rights to it.
- Blocked categories: rich media isn't available for some categories, including alcohol, tobacco and firearms.
Separately, Walmart's Brand Highlights format is open only to brand owners registered in Walmart Brand Portal with no IP or Trust and Safety violations; ordinary product videos are not restricted that way.
What should a Walmart product video show?
The product in use, what's in the box and the details a shopper checks before buying: size, materials, controls and how it compares to the photos. Keep it factual; Walmart's FTC rule applies to every claim you make on screen or in voiceover.
| Seconds | Shot | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 0–3 | The whole product, clean background | Confirms it's the item they clicked |
| 3–15 | The main use or demo | Shows the benefit |
| 15–30 | Close-ups of features, materials, controls | Answers detail questions |
| 30–45 | Scale: in hand, in a room, on a person | Prevents size returns |
| 45–60 | What's in the box | Sets expectations |
Add captions: many shoppers watch with sound off, and Walmart recommends a .vtt caption file.

Walmart's rules allow AI-generated content as long as it's accurate and you hold the rights. The video must show the real product honestly; a clip that adds features, changes the color or invents a result would break the accuracy rule.
AiArter's image-to-video tool makes a 5-second, 480p clip from one photo for 15 credits. It's an .mp4 well under 100 MB, so it fits Walmart's file rules, but 480p looks soft next to 1080p footage and AI motion can warp labels, so check every frame. Presenter-style UGC video ads suit social channels and ads better than a product page.
How do Walmart video rules compare to Amazon's?
