Wix product image size, in short: Wix recommends product images of at least 3000×3000 pixels. It accepts 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 2:3 and 9:16 ratios and recommends square (1:1) for mobile. Use one ratio for every product, because the gallery's default Crop setting trims images that don't match. Product videos can be AVI, MP4, MOV or MPEG up to 50 MB.

Wix's own number is much larger than the 800–1200 px figures you'll find on many blogs, and it's the one that matters: product pages zoom, retina screens double the pixels needed, and Wix creates the smaller versions for you. This guide covers the official sizes, the ratio to pick, how Crop and Fit settings change what shoppers see, file size, and what to do when your photos are too small. If your originals fall short of 3000 px, the AI image upscaler enlarges them 4× for 3 credits.
- Minimum resolution: 3000×3000 px (Wix's recommendation).
- Ratios accepted: 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16.
- Best for mobile: 1:1 square.
- Keep one ratio across products: the Crop setting makes every image the same shape.
- Video: AVI, MP4, MOV or MPEG, up to 50 MB.
What size should Wix product images be?
At least 3000×3000 pixels, according to Wix's help center. That size gives a sharp image on the product page, in zoom and on high-density phone screens, and Wix generates the smaller versions used in galleries and thumbnails from your upload.
| Image | Recommended size | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Product image (Wix recommendation) | 3000×3000 px minimum | 1:1 |
| Portrait product image (clothing) | 3000×4000 px | 3:4 |
| Landscape product image (furniture, wide items) | 4000×3000 px | 4:3 |
| Mobile-first stores | Square, 3000×3000 px | 1:1 |
| Product video | MP4 recommended, up to 50 MB | Match your image ratio |
Wix Stores' product image and video guidance in the Wix Help Center were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.
The portrait and landscape rows apply Wix's 3000 px minimum to the short side, so those images stay sharp at the same zoom. If you sell on several platforms, a 3000×3000 master also covers Shopify's 2048×2048 and Etsy's 2000 px recommendations; see Shopify product image size and website image sizes.
What aspect ratio is best for Wix Stores?
Square (1:1) is the safest choice and the one Wix recommends for mobile. Wix accepts 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 2:3 and 9:16. The Classic Product Page layout supports all of them, while Wix notes that other product page layouts look best with wider images.
| Ratio | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| 1:1 square | Most products; mobile shoppers; mixed catalogs | Tall items look small unless they fill the frame |
| 3:4 or 2:3 portrait | Clothing on a model, bottles, tall decor | Use it for every product in the store |
| 4:3 or 3:2 landscape | Furniture, rugs, wide products | Small on phone screens |
| 16:9 or 9:16 | Lifestyle banners, video stills | Rarely right for product images |
Whatever you choose, pick one ratio for the whole store. A gallery that mixes square, portrait and landscape photos either crops some of them or looks uneven, depending on the setting below.
Why are my Wix product images cropped?
Because the product gallery or product page is set to Crop, which trims every image to the same shape. Wix's help center explains that if you upload images in different sizes and aspect ratios, part of an image may be cut off. Switching to Fit shows the whole image at its original ratio, but then images in the gallery won't line up unless the originals already share a ratio.
- In the Wix Editor, switch to desktop editing mode (these settings are set there).
- Click the Product Gallery, then the Settings icon, and open the Layout tab.
- Under the image resizing option, choose Crop (uniform shapes) or Fit (whole image, original ratio).
- Choose the image ratio that matches your product photos.
- For the product page itself, go to Pages & Menu → Store Pages → Product Page, open the Product Page element's Settings → Layout, and set the Image ratio and Crop or Fit there.
Crop and Fit only choose which problem you see. Re-exporting every product photo at the same ratio, with the product centered and a little space around it, makes the gallery look uniform under either setting. The free square image maker pads tall or wide photos to 1:1 without cutting anything off.
What file size and format should Wix product images be?
Upload high-quality JPGs for photos and PNGs for graphics or cutouts that need transparency, and compress them before upload so a 3000 px image stays a reasonable file size. Wix resizes and optimizes images for display, but a smaller upload is faster to manage and keeps your media library tidy.
| File | Format | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Product photo | JPG | 3000×3000 px, quality around 80–85% |
| Cutout or graphic with transparency | PNG | 3000×3000 px; compress if large |
| Animated product preview | GIF or video | Prefer MP4 video, up to 50 MB |
Wix's product image article doesn't publish a maximum upload size, so if a very large file fails, compress it first. The free image compressor shrinks JPG, PNG and WebP files in your browser, and how to reduce image file size covers the settings.
How do I make my product photos 3000 px for Wix?
Resize from a larger original if you have one; upscale if you don't. Simply stretching a 1000 px photo to 3000 px in an editor makes it soft, because the software can only blur pixels together. An AI upscaler adds believable detail as it enlarges.
| Your original | What to do | Tool |
|---|---|---|
| Larger than 3000 px | Crop to your ratio and resize down to 3000 px | Free resizer, custom size |
| Between 750 and 3000 px | Upscale 4×, then resize to exactly 3000 px | AI upscaler (3 credits), then the free resizer |
| Supplier images around 500–800 px | Upscale 4× and check details at 100% | AI upscaler |
| Not square | Pad to 1:1 with white or a color | Free square image maker |
The free marketplace image resizer accepts custom sizes up to 8000 px, so you can type 3000×3000 and pad or crop to fit. Our guide to upscaling product photos explains when upscaling works and when to reshoot.

Store pages also use banners, category images and a logo, and their best size depends on the section or template you use. Use these as starting points and check each section's preview on desktop and mobile.
- Full-width banner or strip: start at 1920 px wide; keep text in the center so mobile crops don't cut it.
- Category images: the same ratio as your product gallery, so the shop page looks uniform.
- Logo: SVG or a transparent PNG; see how to make a logo background transparent.
- Favicon: a square image; see favicon size.
