Zazzle image size, in short: Zazzle prints uploads at a minimum of 150 pixels per inch, so multiply the print size in inches by 150 (an 8×10 poster needs 1200×1500 px; 24×36 needs 3600×5400 px). Designs under 150 ppi may not be posted for sale, and Zazzle recommends 200 ppi or more for logos and sharp-edged art. It accepts JPEG, PNG, PDF and AI files.
More on this topic: Marketplace image requirements, every guide in one place.
Zazzle doesn't publish one master table of image sizes; the numbers live in separate help articles and in the design tool, which warns you when an image is too small for the product. This guide pulls the official rules into one place: the 150 ppi rule, a pixel chart for poster and print sizes, file formats and transparency, how to size designs for other products, and what to do when your image is too small. The free image resizer exports any exact pixel size, and the aspect ratio calculator works out the other side for you.
- Minimum: 150 ppi at the printed size. Under that, designs may not be posted for sale in the marketplace.
- Sharp art: 200 ppi or more for logos, digital art and high-contrast edges.
- Formula: inches × 150 = minimum pixels; inches × 200 for crisp art.
- Formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF and AI; PNG, PDF and AI keep transparency.
- Vectors: PDF and AI print as vectors on most products.
What resolution does Zazzle require?
At least 150 pixels per inch at the size the design will print. Zazzle's poster size guide says uploaded images are used at a minimum of 150 ppi, that designs below that may not be posted for sale in the Zazzle marketplace, and that 200 ppi or more is recommended for logos, digital art and anything with sharp edges and contrast.
| Resolution | What Zazzle says | Use for |
|---|---|---|
| Under 150 ppi | May not be posted for sale in the marketplace | Avoid |
| 150 ppi | Minimum for printing | Photos and soft artwork |
| 200 ppi or more | Recommended for sharp edges and contrast | Logos, text, digital art |
| 300 ppi | Not required, but common for print files | Small, detailed items |
The ppi setting stored in the file doesn't matter on its own; the pixel dimensions do. If you need to set the metadata for another printer, use the free DPI changer, and see what DPI you need for printing for the background.
Zazzle's resolution rules and print pixel sizes were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.
What size should a Zazzle poster image be?
Multiply each side in inches by 150. These are Zazzle's own minimum pixel sizes for its portrait and landscape poster and print sizes; for logos and sharp art, multiply by 200 instead.
| Print size (inches) | Minimum pixels (150 ppi) | Sharp art (200 ppi) | Framing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4×6 | 600×900 | 800×1200 | No |
| 5×7 | 750×1050 | 1000×1400 | No |
| 8×10 | 1200×1500 | 1600×2000 | Yes |
| 8.5×11 | 1275×1650 | 1700×2200 | No |
| 11×14 | 1650×2100 | 2200×2800 | Yes |
| 11×17 | 1650×2550 | 2200×3400 | No |
| 12×16 | 1800×2400 | 2400×3200 | Yes |
| 12×18 | 1800×2700 | 2400×3600 | Yes |
| 16×20 | 2400×3000 | 3200×4000 | Yes |
| 16×24 | 2400×3600 | 3200×4800 | Yes |
| 18×24 | 2700×3600 | 3600×4800 | Yes |
| 20×24 | 3000×3600 | 4000×4800 | No |
| 20×30 | 3000×4500 | 4000×6000 | Yes |
| 24×36 | 3600×5400 | 4800×7200 | Yes |
| 30×40 | 4500×6000 | 6000×8000 | No |
Square prints follow the same rule: 12×12 needs 1800×1800 px, 16×16 needs 2400×2400, 24×24 needs 3600×3600 and 30×30 needs 4500×4500. The 200 ppi column is our calculation from Zazzle's recommendation, not a separate Zazzle table. For the same math for photo prints in general, see photo print sizes in pixels.
What file types does Zazzle accept?
JPEG, PNG, PDF and Adobe Illustrator (AI) files, according to Zazzle's help center; some of its newer regional help pages also list SVG. PNG, PDF and AI support full transparency, and PDF and AI files are printed as vectors on most products.
| Format | Transparency | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| JPEG | No | Photos for posters, cards and canvas |
| PNG | Yes | Designs on colored products: shirts, mugs, stickers |
| Yes, plus vector output on most products | Logos and text-heavy designs | |
| AI | Yes, plus vector output on most products | Illustrator artwork |
Zazzle notes that the design tool shows a rasterized (bitmap) preview of a vector file. That's normal: the preview is a picture of your design, and the vector is used for printing on products that support it.
How do you size a design for other Zazzle products?
Use the same rule: measure the print area in inches and multiply by 150, or 200 for sharp art. Zazzle's design tool shows each product's print area and flags an image that is too small, so check the warning before you publish.
- Open the product in Zazzle's design tool and note the print area dimensions.
- Multiply width and height in inches by 150 (photos) or 200 (logos, text, line art).
- Make your design at that size or larger, in the same shape as the print area.
- Export PNG for designs that need transparency, JPEG for full-bleed photos.
- Upload, check the preview and the resolution warning, then publish.
To match an existing image to a print area's shape, crop it with the free image cropper set to a custom ratio.
What if your image is too small for Zazzle?
Choose a smaller print size, recreate the design at a larger size, or upscale it. Upscaling works best on clean artwork and decent photos; it can't rescue a tiny, heavily compressed image.
- Smaller product size: a 1200×1500 px image is fine at 8×10 but not at 16×20.
- Recreate: vector logos and text can be exported again at any size.
- Upscale: AiArter's AI upscaler enlarges an image 4× for 3 credits, so a 1200×1500 file becomes 4800×6000. Check edges and text at 100% before you order.

What size should a Zazzle design be for a t-shirt, mug or sticker?
Zazzle doesn't publish one pixel size per product; the design tool shows each product's print area and warns you if an image is too small for it. Apply the same 150 ppi rule (200 ppi for crisp art) to the print area, and make the design a little larger than you need so you can position it.
| Product type | How to size the file | Format tip |
|---|---|---|
| Apparel | Print area in inches × 200 for logos and text | PNG with a transparent background, so the shirt color shows through |
| Mugs | Wrap area in inches × 150–200; check the handle side | PNG for graphics, JPEG for full-wrap photos |
| Stickers | Sticker size in inches × 200 | PNG with transparency for cut-out shapes |
| Cards and invitations | Card size plus any bleed × 150–200 | Keep text inside the safe area shown in the tool |
| Canvas and wall art | Same as the poster chart above | JPEG for photos |
Keep text and faces away from the edges of the print area, since mug wraps and cards can trim or curve near the edge. Always open the full-size preview before you publish, and order a sample of a new design if you can: screens show colors brighter than most printed products.
Zazzle prints from RGB files on most products, but printed colors are never identical to a phone screen. Very saturated blues, greens and neons tend to print duller. If exact color matters, test with one product before uploading a whole collection.
