Amazon Hero Image Size (2026): Main Image, Brand Store and A+ Content

Amazon hero image size, in short: it depends which hero you mean. The listing’s main image needs at least 1,000 px on the longest side (2000×2000 is typical) on pure white. The Brand Store hero is at least 3000×600 px, up to 5 MB. The A+ Content header is at least 970×600, or 1464×600 plus a 600×450 mobile image in Premium A+.

Sellers, agencies and Amazon's own tools all say “hero image”, but they rarely mean the same picture. Make a 3000×600 Store banner when your designer wanted a main image and you've wasted a day. This guide puts all three side by side, gives the exact sizes for each and links to the detailed guides. For the main image, the free Amazon image checker tests a file against the rules before you upload.

The short version
  • Listing hero (main image): 1,000 px+ on the longest side, 2000×2000 typical, pure white RGB 255, 255, 255, product filling about 85%.
  • Brand Store hero: 3000×600 px minimum (5:1), max 5 MB; keep content in the center 2100×600.
  • A+ hero (standard): Image header with text, 970×600 px minimum.
  • A+ hero (Premium): 1464×600 desktop plus 600×450 mobile.
  • Different rules: only the main image must be pure white with no text; the Store and A+ heroes can be lifestyle scenes.

What size is an Amazon hero image?

An Amazon hero image is 2000×2000 px if you mean the listing's main image, 3000×600 px if you mean the Brand Store banner, and 970×600 px (standard) or 1464×600 px (Premium) if you mean the A+ Content header. All three are minimums or common choices; here they are together.

Amazon's main-image requirements, Stores creative guidelines and A+ module sizes, from our detailed Amazon guides, were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

If someone asks you for “the hero”, ask where it will appear. A listing manager almost always means the main image; a brand or agency team usually means the Store banner or the A+ header.

What size is the Amazon main product image (the listing hero)?

The main image must be at least 1,000 pixels on its longest side so zoom works, and 2000×2000 px is the common choice. Amazon accepts up to 10,000 px and 10 MB, with JPEG preferred and sRGB color.

Size is the easy part. The main image is the only hero with strict content rules:

  • Pure white background, RGB 255, 255, 255. Off-white or light grey can be flagged.
  • The product fills at least 85% of the frame, measured on the longest side.
  • Only the product being sold: no props, extra items or packaging that isn't part of the product.
  • No added text, logos, badges, watermarks or borders.

A main image that breaks these rules can get the listing suppressed from search. The full rules are in Amazon product image requirements, and the usual fixes in why Amazon rejected your main image. To pad a photo to a 2000×2000 square without stretching it, use the free Amazon image resizer.

Turn a phone photo into a compliant main image: the product cut out, centered on pure white and exported at 2000×2000, filling about 85% of the frame. 4 credits per photo.

What size is the Amazon Brand Store hero image?

The Brand Store hero image is at least 3000×600 pixels, a 5:1 strip, with a 5 MB maximum. It runs across the top of every page in your Store, above the navigation.

Store hero specValue
Minimum size3000×600 px
Shape5:1
Max file size5 MB
CroppingUp to 15% from the left and 15% from the right on some screens
Safe areaCenter 2100×600 px (from 450 to 2550 px across)
TextAmazon advises against text in images; the logo sits in the header separately

Because the hero is only 600 px tall, a square product photo looks tiny in it. Wide scenes work better: a line-up of products, a room or outdoor setting, or a texture with the product in the center. Every Store size, including the 400×400 logo and the image tiles, is in Amazon storefront banner size.

Making a 5:1 hero from a square photo

Stretching a square photo to 3000×600 distorts the product, and cropping it leaves a sliver. The AI image extender generates matching background to the left and right instead (8 credits per size), so the product stays exactly as photographed in the safe center. Upscale first if the photo is small.

What size is the Amazon A+ Content hero image?

In standard A+ Content, the hero is the Image header with text module, at least 970×600 pixels. In Premium A+, full-width modules need a 1464×600 desktop image and a separate 600×450 mobile image.

A+ moduleMinimum size (px)Notes
Standard: Image header with text970×600The usual A+ “hero” at the top
Standard: Image with text overlay970×300A shorter full-width banner

Premium: Full background image1464×600 desktop; 600×450 mobileTwo separate images
Premium: Hero videoVideo at least 960×540; preview image 1464×600Premium only

A+ images can be lifestyle scenes with text, but not prices, promotions, review quotes, guarantees or links. Amazon shows the module definitions inside A+ Content Manager in Seller Central; every module and its text limits are listed in Amazon A+ Content image sizes. Our design templates are a starting point for header layouts.

How do I make all three Amazon hero images from one product photo?

Start from one sharp, well-lit product photo of at least 2000 px, then make each hero in turn:

  1. Main image: cut the product out onto pure white at 2000×2000 with the Amazon white background tool, then run it through the free Amazon image checker.
  2. A+ header: place the product in a lifestyle scene, then crop or extend it to 970×600 (standard) or 1464×600 plus 600×450 (Premium).
  3. Store hero: extend a wide version of that scene to 3000×600, keeping the product inside the center 2100 px.
  4. Check sizes: the free image resizer crops or pads to any exact custom size if you're a few pixels off.
  5. Too small? 4× AI upscaling gets a small photo past 3000 px without the blur of a plain enlargement.

Keeping the same lighting and product angle across all three makes the listing, the A+ section and the Store look like one brand.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Amazon hero image size?

It depends which hero. The main product image is 2000×2000 typically (1,000 px minimum on the longest side), the Brand Store hero is at least 3000×600, and the A+ header is at least 970×600, or 1464×600 in Premium A+.

What is the Amazon Store banner size?

At least 3000×600 pixels (5:1) and no more than 5 MB. Up to 15% can be cropped from each side, so keep important content in the center 2100×600.

What size is the A+ Content hero image?

The standard A+ Image header with text module needs at least 970×600 pixels. Premium A+ full-width modules need 1464×600 for desktop and 600×450 for mobile.

Is the hero image the same as the main image on Amazon?

Often, in listing talk: sellers call the main image the hero because it's the first image shoppers see. But the Brand Store and A+ Content have their own hero images with different sizes and rules.

Does the Amazon main image have to be 2000×2000?

No. Amazon requires at least 1,000 px on the longest side for zoom and accepts up to 10,000 px. 2000×2000 is the common recommendation because it zooms sharply and stays a sensible file size.

Can the Amazon Store hero have text?

Amazon advises against text baked into Store images, partly because it may be cropped or unreadable on mobile. Use the Store's text tiles for words and keep the hero visual.

Can an A+ hero image be a lifestyle photo?

Yes. A+ images can show the product in use, with text, as long as they avoid prices, promotions, review quotes, guarantees and links.

What file format should an Amazon hero image be?

JPEG for the main image (PNG, TIFF and non-animated GIF are also accepted), in sRGB. A+ and Store images can be JPEG or PNG.
