Indiegogo Image Size Guide (2026): Thumbnail, Cover, Gallery and Rewards

Indiegogo image size, in short: Indiegogo recommends 700×700 px (1:1) for the project thumbnail, reward and add-on images, update images, the creator avatar and the launch image, and 1200×630 px for project gallery images and the social sharing image. The cover image and creator home page slideshow need at least 1743×498 px, with no text on the cover.

More on this topic: Marketplace image requirements, every guide in one place.

Indiegogo's help center lists a different size for each image slot, and the shapes vary from square to a very wide banner. Use the wrong one and Indiegogo crops your thumbnail, covers your product with backer counts or darkens your text. This guide puts every official size in one table, explains the crops and overlays, and shows how to make all of them from one product photo. The free image resizer exports each exact size, and the image cropper locks to any ratio.

The short version
  • Square, 700×700: project thumbnail, rewards and add-ons, update image, avatar, launch image.
  • Wide, 1200×630: project gallery and social media image.
  • Banner, 1743×498 minimum: cover image and creator home page slideshow.
  • Cover: no text; Indiegogo applies a darkening filter.
  • Thumbnail: follower and backer counts cover the bottom, so keep the product high.

What size are Indiegogo images?

There are three shapes: square 700×700 for most images, 1200×630 for gallery and social images, and a minimum of 1743×498 for covers. These are Indiegogo's own recommended (or minimum) sizes from its project image help article.

Indiegogo's article labels the 1200×630 images as 16:9 and the 1743×498 cover as 21:6, but the pixel sizes are closer to 1.9:1 and 3.5:1. Design to the pixel sizes, which is what the platform uses. The aspect ratio calculator works out matching sizes if you want to export larger.

Indiegogo's recommended image sizes were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

What size is the Indiegogo project thumbnail?

700×700 pixels, square. It's the image backers see in project lists and search, so it does most of the selling. Indiegogo places follower and backer counts over the bottom of the thumbnail, so keep your product and any text in the upper two-thirds.

  • One clear product: large, centered slightly high, on a clean background.
  • Little or no text: a few large words at most, kept away from the bottom.
  • Contrast: the thumbnail sits beside other projects; a bright product on a calm background stands out.
  • Export 1400×1400: twice the size, same square shape, for sharper display on high-density screens.
The bottom of the thumbnail is covered

Indiegogo overlays follower and backer counts on the bottom of the project thumbnail. Anything you place there, including a logo or a price, may be hidden. Pad the product upward with the free square image maker if needed.

What size is the Indiegogo cover image?

At least 1743×498 pixels, a wide banner shape. The cover is recommended but not required, should contain no text, and gets an automatic darkening filter, so choose a bright, simple image with the subject in the center.

  1. Pick a wide lifestyle or product photo with empty space on both sides.
  2. Crop it to 1743×498 (or larger at the same shape) with the cropper.
  3. Keep the product in the middle third, since the sides can be cut on smaller screens.
  4. Brighten it slightly to make up for the darkening filter.
  5. Leave text off; put your message in the title and gallery images instead.

If your photo is too narrow for a banner, AiArter's AI image extender widens the background around the product to a banner shape (8 credits per size); crop the result to 1743×498 without cutting into the product.

What size are Indiegogo gallery images?

1200×630 pixels for the project gallery, which holds images and video thumbnails. Indiegogo notes that YouTube video thumbnails can't be added to the gallery, while Twitch and Vimeo thumbnails can. The same 1200×630 size is used for the social media image when your project is shared.

How do you make every Indiegogo image from one photo?

Start with a large, high-quality product photo with space around the product, then crop or extend it to each of the three shapes. Shooting wider than you need is the simplest way to get all three from one photo.

What file format should Indiegogo images be?

Indiegogo's help article says it accepts standard image formats without listing them, so use JPEG for photos and PNG for graphics with text or flat color. Both are accepted almost everywhere, and they're what most campaign tools export.

ImageFormatWhy
Product photos and lifestyle shotsJPEGSmall files at high quality
Graphics with text, charts, iconsPNGSharp edges and lettering
Animated feature demosGIFPlays inline in the story section
Thumbnails and launch imageJPEG or PNGKeep them under a few hundred KB

Keep file sizes small so the campaign page loads fast on mobile, where many backers arrive from social links. A 1200×630 JPEG should be well under 500 KB.

Plan for phones first

Many backers see your campaign on a phone, where a 1200×630 gallery image is shown only a few hundred pixels wide. Text on gallery images needs to be large and short; anything smaller than a headline is hard to read.

What size are Indiegogo gallery images?

1200×630 pixels for images and video thumbnails. YouTube thumbnails can't be added; Twitch and Vimeo thumbnails can.

Can I put text on the Indiegogo cover image?

Indiegogo says the cover should contain no text, and it applies a darkening filter.

What size is the Indiegogo social media image?

1200×630 pixels. Indiegogo uses it when your project is shared on social media, and falls back to the project thumbnail if you don't add one.

Should I export Indiegogo images larger than recommended?

Exporting at twice the size in the same shape (for example 1400×1400 for a 700×700 slot) gives sharper results on high-density screens. Keep files compressed.
