How it’s calculated
  • Sale price = price × (1 − discount)
  • Discount = (regular − sale) ÷ regular
  • Stacked discounts multiply: final = price × (1 − d1) × (1 − d2). 20% then 10% is 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 28% off, not 30%.
  • Buy X get Y at z% off: discount on the whole order = Y × z ÷ (X + Y). Buy 2 get 1 free is 33.3% off each item.
  • Lowest price that keeps margin m: cost ÷ (1 − m − fee %). Deepest discount: 1 − lowest price ÷ regular price.

FAQ

Questions about discount calculator

Is the discount calculator free?
Yes. It's free with no sign-up.
Are my prices saved or sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs in your browser. Your numbers never leave your device.
Why isn't 20% off plus an extra 10% off the same as 30% off?
The second discount applies to the price that's already reduced. $100 minus 20% is $80, and 10% of $80 is $8, so the final price is $72. That's 28% off in total.
How do I work out the discount on buy 2 get 1 free?
The customer gets 3 items and pays for 2, so each item costs two thirds of the full price. That's 33.3% off each item. Buy 1 get 1 at 50% off works out to 25% off.
How does the margin check work?
Enter your cost per unit, your fees as a percentage of the sale price, and the margin you want to keep. The lowest price is cost ÷ (1 − margin − fees), and the deepest discount is how far that is below your regular price. Put fixed per-order fees and shipping into the cost.
Does it convert currencies?
No. The currency picker only changes the symbol and number format. Enter every amount in the same currency.
