How it’s calculated
  • Fees = price × (marketplace % + processing %) + marketplace fixed fee + processing fixed fee
  • Total cost = product + shipping + ads + other + fees
  • Profit = price − total cost
  • Margin = profit ÷ price
  • Markup = (price − product cost) ÷ product cost
  • ROI = profit ÷ product cost
  • Price for margin m = (product + shipping + ads + other + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − m − marketplace % − processing %). Break-even is the same with m = 0.

Questions about profit margin calculator

Is the profit margin calculator free?
Yes. It's free with no sign-up.
Are my numbers saved or sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs in your browser. Your numbers never leave your device and are gone when you close the page.
What's the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a share of the selling price. Markup is how much the price is above the product cost, as a share of that cost. A $10 product sold for $25 has a 150% markup, but after fees and shipping the margin may be 20% or less.
Which fees should I enter?
The ones on your own marketplace and payment provider fee pages. Referral or final-value fees are usually a percentage of the price, and many platforms add a fixed fee per order. Fees vary by category, plan and country, so the calculator doesn't fill them in for you.
How is the price for a target margin calculated?
It adds up your fixed costs per unit and divides by what's left of each dollar after percentage fees and the target margin: price = fixed costs ÷ (1 − margin − fee percentages). If fees plus the margin reach 100%, no price can hit that target and the tool says so.
Does it convert currencies?
No. The currency picker only changes the symbol and number format. Enter every amount in the same currency.
