Etsy Banner Size (2026): Cover Photo, Mini Banner, Shop Icon

Etsy banner size: the big banner (Etsy calls it a cover photo) is usually given as 3360×840 pixels recommended, with a 1200×300 minimum, a 4:1 ratio. The smaller mini banner is commonly listed at 1600×213 (minimum 1200×160). Your shop icon should be at least 500×500 pixels, and your shop owner photo about 400×400.

Your banner is the first thing a buyer sees when they tap through to your shop from a listing, and on Etsy that's often the moment they decide whether you look like a real, established seller. This guide covers every Etsy shop image size, how the banner crops on phones, which banner type to choose, and how to build one from product photos you already have.

The short version
  • Big banner / cover photo: 3360×840 px recommended, 1200×300 px minimum, 4:1 ratio.
  • Mini banner: a thin strip, commonly listed at 1600×213 px (1200×160 min).
  • Shop icon: square, at least 500×500 px. Shown small, often as a circle.
  • Shop owner photo: square, about 400×400 px.
  • Mobile: the sides of the banner get trimmed on phones, so keep text and products in the middle.

What size is an Etsy banner in 2026?

Upload the big banner (cover photo) at 3360×840 pixels. That size stays sharp on large desktop screens and still looks clean when Etsy scales it down for phones. Etsy won't take a cover photo smaller than 1200×300; anything near that minimum looks soft on a laptop.

Etsy shop banner, icon and profile photo sizes were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

Etsy's shop editor has changed several times, and Etsy's own help pages weren't reachable when we checked, so the figures above are the ones consistently cited by Etsy design guides and template makers. The upload screen in Shop Manager shows the exact size it wants; if it differs, follow the upload screen. The 4:1 shape of the big banner is the part that matters most for your design.

Big banner vs mini banner: which should you use?

Use the big banner if you have a good product image or brand photo; use the mini banner if you want buyers to see your listings with less scrolling. The big banner gives you a large, visual header, which helps shops that sell on looks (home decor, jewelry, art, clothing). The mini banner is a thin strip with room for a name or short tagline and little else.

Most product sellers are better served by the big banner. It's the one buyers on a phone actually notice, and phones are where most Etsy browsing happens.

How does the Etsy banner look on mobile?

On phones, Etsy shows a narrower portion of the banner, so the left and right edges get trimmed. A headline that runs edge to edge on desktop can lose its first and last words on a phone. Design for the center:

  • Keep text, your logo and the main product inside roughly the middle 60% of the width.
  • Keep a margin top and bottom; don't let text touch the edges.
  • Use the outer edges for background only: a table surface, fabric, a color wash.
  • After uploading, open your shop in the Etsy app and check what's visible.

Add vertical guides at about 670 and 2690 px, and horizontal guides at about 100 and 740 px. Keep anything important inside that box, about 2020×640 in the center.

What size is the Etsy shop icon?

The shop icon should be a square at least 500×500 pixels. It appears small next to your shop name, in messages and in reviews, and it's often cropped to a circle, so the corners disappear.

  • Use a simple logo mark or a single product on a plain background, not a full logo with a tagline.
  • Center it with space around the edges so the circle crop doesn't clip it.
  • Check it at thumbnail size (about 70 px); if you can't tell what it is, simplify.
  • Use the same icon on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook so buyers recognize you.

To turn a rectangular logo or product photo into a clean square, the free square image maker pads it to 1:1 with a color you choose.

How to make an Etsy banner from your product photos

The best Etsy banners usually show the product, not just a shop name in a nice font. Here's a simple process that works in Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop or any design app:

  1. Create a 3360×840 canvas and add the safe-area guides above.
  2. Pick one wide product photo, or a lifestyle shot of a few products together. A 4:1 strip shows little height, so wide arrangements work better than tall products.
  3. Place the product center or slightly off-center, inside the guides.
  4. Add a short line of text if you want one: what you make, or the current sale. Large, high-contrast type.
  5. Leave breathing room. Etsy places other elements around the banner; a busy design fights with them.
  6. Export as JPG (PNG for flat graphics) and upload in Shop Manager under your shop settings.
  7. Check desktop and the Etsy app. Adjust if anything is clipped.

Our design templates include banners and covers you can drop a product photo into; set the canvas to 3360×840 before exporting. A brand kit keeps the banner's colors and fonts in step with your listing images.

How do I fit a square product photo into a 4:1 Etsy banner?

Extend the background sideways rather than cropping the product. A square photo cropped to 4:1 keeps only a thin slice of the middle; the product is usually cut in half.

  • Plain background (free): if your photo is on white or a solid color, the free marketplace image resizer can pad it to a custom size such as 3360×840 with a matching color. Then add text beside the product.
  • Scene background (AI): the AI image extender continues the scene around your product. Extend to the website banner size (1920×1080), then crop a 4:1 strip around the product. Works best when the product sits in the middle of the frame with space above and below (8 credits).
  • New scene (AI): if your photo has a messy background, AiArter's product photos tool keeps your product as photographed and puts it in a generated scene such as a wooden table or marble counter (8 credits), which you can then extend and crop.

Etsy banner ideas that work for product sellers

  • Product line-up: three to five bestsellers arranged in a row on one surface. The 4:1 shape suits this naturally.
  • Close-up texture: fabric, wood grain, glaze or stitching, with your shop name on top.
  • Workspace: your hands, tools and materials. Signals handmade without saying it.
  • Seasonal sale: swap in a holiday banner for November and December, then switch back.
  • Brand color strip: a solid color from your packaging, with your logo and tagline. Simple, readable and consistent.

Whatever you choose, keep the style consistent with your listing photos so the shop feels like one brand. Our guides on keeping product photos consistent and Etsy mockups vs real photos help with that, and Etsy listing photo size covers the listing images themselves. Selling on your own site too? Frequently asked questions

What size is an Etsy banner?

The Etsy big banner, now called the cover photo, is commonly recommended at 3360×840 pixels with a 1200×300 minimum, a 4:1 ratio. The mini banner is a thin strip usually listed at 1600×213 pixels. Check the upload screen in Shop Manager for the current size.

What is the Etsy cover photo size?

Upload the Etsy cover photo at 3360×840 pixels. It must be at least 1200×300. Keep text and products in the center because the sides are trimmed on phones.

What size is the Etsy shop icon?

The Etsy shop icon should be a square image of at least 500×500 pixels. It's shown small and often as a circle, so use a simple, centered logo or product.

Why is my Etsy banner cut off on mobile?

Etsy shows a narrower part of the banner on phones, trimming the left and right edges. Keep text and key products in roughly the middle 60% of the width and use the edges for background only.

Should I use a big banner or mini banner on Etsy?

Most product sellers should use the big banner (cover photo), because it shows products and is the one buyers notice on phones. A mini banner suits shops that want a simple name strip.

What is the Etsy profile picture size?

The shop owner photo is a square, and about 400×400 pixels or larger works well. It's separate from the shop icon; many sellers use a friendly photo of themselves to build trust.
