Bonanza Photo Requirements (2026): Size, 4 MB Limit and Bulk Imports

Bonanza photo requirements, in short: upload JPG, PNG or GIF files of 4 MB or less. Bonanza shows buyers images up to 1600×1200 px and scales larger uploads down, so exporting at 1600 px on the long side is the sweet spot; third-party guides give 500×500 px as the minimum. Bonanza has said listings take up to 15 photos. Use a clean first photo for Google Shopping.

More on this topic: Marketplace image requirements, every guide in one place.

Bonanza is a smaller marketplace that many eBay and Etsy sellers cross-list to, often by importing listings in bulk. Its image rules are simple but scattered across old support answers, and bulk imports fail when a single image is over the size limit. This guide sets out what Bonanza has said about photo size, files and count, how to prepare images for a bulk import, and what makes a good first photo. The free image compressor gets any photo under 4 MB in your browser.

The short version
  • Files: JPG, PNG or GIF, 4 MB or less each.
  • Largest display size: 1600×1200 px; bigger images are scaled down.
  • Minimum: 500×500 px, per third-party bulk upload guides.
  • Photo count: Bonanza said in 2015 that listings take up to 15 photos; check the listing form.
  • Bulk imports: one oversized image can make an upload fail, so compress first.

What are Bonanza's photo requirements?

JPG, GIF or PNG images of 4 MB or less, according to Bonanza's support team. Bonanza automatically lowers the resolution for smaller views, and the largest size buyers see is 1600×1200 pixels. Those answers are several years old, so the table marks which numbers are official and which come from third-party guides.

Bonanza's help pages block automated reading, so we checked these through search results. Confirm the current numbers in the listing form or with Bonanza support before a large import.

Bonanza's photo file rules and display size were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

What size should Bonanza photos be?

About 1600 px on the long side. Bonanza's largest display size is 1600×1200, so anything bigger is scaled down and only adds upload time and file size. A 1600×1200 (4:3) or 1600×1600 (square) JPEG fits comfortably under 4 MB.

Square photos are the practical choice if you cross-list, since eBay, Etsy and most marketplaces handle them well. The free marketplace image resizer exports 1600×1600 or 1600×1200 in one step.

How do you prepare photos for a Bonanza bulk import?

Make every image a JPEG under 4 MB at around 1600 px, with the main image first. Third-party guides warn that a bulk upload fails when images exceed the size limit, so fixing files before the import saves a failed run.

  1. Convert any HEIC or WebP files to JPEG.
  2. Resize every image to 1600 px on the long side.
  3. Compress each one well under 4 MB (most will land under 1 MB).
  4. Check that the first image for each listing is the clean main photo.
  5. Run the import, then spot-check a few listings on desktop and mobile.

The free HEIC to JPG and WebP to JPG converters handle the first step.

What makes a good Bonanza main photo?

A clean, well-lit photo of the whole item on a plain background, filling most of the frame. Bonanza's advertising program can show listings on Google Shopping, which expects simple product images without text, borders or watermarks.

  • Plain background: white or light grey; a white background suits shopping ads.
  • Fill the frame: the product at about 80% of the image.
  • No text or watermarks on the main photo.
  • Real photos for used items: condition is what buyers are paying for.
  • Extra angles: back, sides, labels, scale and flaws in the remaining slots.

For new products, AiArter's white background tool turns a phone photo into a pure white 2000×2000 main image for 4 credits; resize it to 1600 px for Bonanza. Google's own image rules are in our Google Shopping image requirements guide.

How many photos should a Bonanza listing have?

As many as it takes to answer buyers' questions, up to the form's limit: usually 6 to 10 for new products and 8 to 15 for used or collectible items. Bonanza also allows extra images in the item description.

Cross-listing from eBay?

eBay photos are often larger than Bonanza needs and can exceed 4 MB when exported at full size. If an eBay import into Bonanza fails, oversized images are one of the first things to check. Our eBay photo requirements guide lists eBay's own rules.

What are the most common Bonanza photo mistakes?

Are watermarks and borders allowed on Bonanza photos?

Bonanza's image answers don't list a watermark ban, but keep the main photo free of watermarks, text and borders anyway. Shopping feeds that pick up the first image expect a clean product photo, and listings cross-listed from eBay must follow eBay's own ban on added borders, text and watermarks.

ElementMain photoOther photos
Watermark or logoNoAvoid; it distracts from the product
Text, prices or badgesNoShort labels on an infographic are fine
Added borders or framesNoNo
CollagesNoFine for showing variants or bundles
Size chartsNoYes, as a later image

If you watermark to discourage photo theft, put your shop name in the listing text instead; it's less intrusive and doesn't risk a shopping feed rejecting the image.
