Pebblely vs Photoroom (2026): AI Backgrounds, Pricing and Which to Choose

Pebblely vs Photoroom: Pebblely is the simpler choice if you only need AI background scenes, with plans from $9/month for 30 images to $39/month for 500. Photoroom is the better all-round editor: background removal, AI backgrounds, AI fashion models, batch editing and phone apps, with Pro at $12.99/month or $7.50/month billed yearly.

Full disclosure: AiArter is our product. Neither Pebblely nor Photoroom is ours, so we compare the two fairly first and mention AiArter once as a third option. Every price and feature below comes from Pebblely's and Photoroom's own pricing, help and product pages, checked in October 2026. Prices change, so check current pricing before you buy.

The short version
  • Pebblely does one job: placing your product in AI-generated scenes, with 40+ background themes and custom prompts on every plan.
  • Photoroom does many jobs: cutouts, AI backgrounds, AI fashion models, retouching, AI expand and resize, batch processing and Shopify sync (on Max).
  • Units differ. Pebblely counts generated images; Photoroom counts exports and AI credits separately.
  • Apps: Photoroom has native iPhone, iPad and Android apps. Pebblely's site doesn't list a mobile app.

Pebblely and Photoroom prices and features, taken from each vendor's pricing, help and product pages, were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

Is Pebblely or Photoroom better for AI product backgrounds?

It depends on how much control you want versus how much you want the tool to do. Pebblely is built around AI scenes: upload a product, pick one of 40+ themes or write a custom prompt, and it generates the scene. Its homepage also points to 100+ templates and resizing for different marketplaces and channels. If AI lifestyle images are all you need, there's very little to learn.

Photoroom's AI Backgrounds sit inside a broader editor. You also get AI Shadows, Product Fixer, Retouch, AI Fill and AI Expand/Resize, which Photoroom lists on every paid plan, so you can fix the cutout and the scene in one place. Pro includes 8,000 AI credits a month and Max 25,000.

Scene quality varies by product and prompt with every AI tool. Glass, chrome and products with text on the label are the hardest cases, so test those first.

Is Pebblely or Photoroom better for background removal?

Photoroom. Background removal is one of its core tools, included on paid plans with no AI-credit cost under fair-use limits, and it has a batch background remover. Pebblely's pricing page is about generated images and themes; it doesn't sell itself as a cutout tool. If you also need clean white or transparent images for your main listing photo, Photoroom covers that and Pebblely doesn't focus on it.

Pebblely vs Photoroom pricing: which is cheaper?

Pebblely lists three monthly plans, all with 40+ themes and custom prompts:

  • Lite: $9/month for 30 images (no bulk generation).
  • Basic: $19/month for 200 images, with bulk generation.
  • Pro: $39/month for 500 images, with bulk generation.

Photoroom lists Pro at $12.99/month or $89.99/year with 1,000 exports and 8,000 AI credits a month; Max at $34.99/month or $250/year with 3,000 exports and 25,000 AI credits; and Ultra at $99/month or $990/year with 10,000 exports and 75,000 AI credits.

Cost per image at full use

PlanPriceMonthly allowanceCost per image if you use it all
Pebblely Lite$9/mo30 images30 cents
Pebblely Basic$19/mo200 images9.5 cents
Pebblely Pro$39/mo500 images7.8 cents
Photoroom Pro, monthly$12.99/mo1,000 exportsabout 1.3 cents per export
Photoroom Pro, yearly$89.99/yr1,000 exportsabout 0.75 cents per export

A caution on that table: a Photoroom export and a Pebblely image aren't the same unit. AI backgrounds on Photoroom also draw on your AI credits, and Photoroom's pricing page doesn't give a fixed number of AI scenes per plan, so the true cost of an AI scene there depends on the model and settings. What's clear is that Photoroom gives far more exports for the money, and that Pebblely's price per image is easy to predict.

Pebblely vs Photoroom: which should you choose?

  • Choose Pebblely if you want a focused AI scene generator with a simple per-image plan, and you already have clean product cutouts or don't need them.
  • Choose Photoroom if you need cutouts, white backgrounds, retouching, AI fashion models, batch editing or a phone app alongside AI scenes.
  • Volume matters. Above a few hundred images a month, Photoroom's export allowance goes further, but check how many AI credits your scenes use.

A third option if you want the product kept exactly as shot

AiArter (our product) is another web-based option for scenes. It cuts out your real product and generates only the background, so labels and colors stay as you photographed them. A lifestyle scene from the AI background generator costs 8 credits, a white main image 4 credits and each channel size 8 credits. Starter is $12/month for 1,000 credits, which is 125 scenes or 250 white images. It has no mobile app, no API and no AI fashion models, and there's a 14-day trial rather than a permanent free plan.

Put one product photo into a lifestyle scene and a white main image, with the product left exactly as you shot it.

Check labels and text after every AI scene

Some AI tools redraw parts of the product along with the scene, which can blur small print, change a logo or shift a color. Zoom in on labels before you list, especially for food, cosmetics and supplements where the label is part of compliance.

How to choose between Pebblely and Photoroom

  1. List the images each product needs: main white image, scenes, channel sizes.
  2. Count monthly volume for each type, since the two tools bill different units.
  3. Decide if you need cutouts. If yes, Photoroom covers them; Pebblely focuses on scenes.
  4. Check where you work: phone (Photoroom's apps) or browser (both).
  5. Test the same three products in each tool: one shiny, one with text on the label, one with fine edges.
  6. Compare cost per finished image, not plan price, at your real volume.
