Canva vs Adobe Express (2026): Features, Pricing and Which to Choose

Canva vs Adobe Express: Canva is the better pick for most small businesses, with a larger template library, 5 brand kits on Pro and a Content Planner for scheduling. Adobe Express is the better value if you want Adobe Fonts, Firefly generative AI and Adobe integration, with Premium at a published US$9.99/month and a 30-day free trial.

Full disclosure: AiArter is our product. Neither Canva nor Adobe Express is ours, so we compare the two fairly first and mention AiArter once as a third option. Every price and feature below comes from Canva's and Adobe's own pricing, help and product pages, checked in October 2026. Canva's prices vary by region, and all prices change, so check current pricing before you buy.

The short version
  • Both have free plans and native iPhone and Android apps. Neither needs design experience.
  • Canva Pro lists 3.6M+ templates, 141M+ premium assets, 5 brand kits, 100GB of storage, Magic Resize and an unlimited background remover. Its price depends on your region.
  • Adobe Express Premium is US$9.99/month with 250 generative credits a month, brand kits, one-click resize, background removal (including video) and 30,000+ Adobe Fonts.
  • Scheduling: both can schedule social posts. Adobe Express lists 1 account per network on Free and 3 per network on Premium; Canva's Content Planner is on Pro and above.

Canva and Adobe Express prices and features, taken from each vendor's pricing, help and product pages, were checked in October 2026. Marketplaces change their rules, so confirm the current requirements in your seller dashboard before you upload a large batch.

Is Canva or Adobe Express better for beginners?

Both are built for people without design training: pick a template, change the text and photos, and export. Canva's advantage is sheer choice. Pro lists 3.6M+ templates and 141M+ premium photos, videos, graphics and audio, so you're more likely to find a template close to what you want. Adobe Express has a large library too, and its templates and fonts will feel familiar if you've used other Adobe products.

If you're new to both, try each free plan for a week with your real tasks (a sale banner, an Instagram post, a product flyer) and keep the one you finish work faster in.

Which has better AI features, Canva or Adobe Express?

Adobe Express Premium includes 250 Firefly generative credits a month, and Adobe's higher Firefly Pro plan (US$19.99/month) includes 4,000 credits plus text-to-video. The free plan gets limited daily generations. Adobe states its credit allowances clearly, which makes heavy AI use easier to budget.

Canva also has AI tools across its editor, along with the background remover and Magic Resize on Pro. Canva's AI allowances vary by plan and change often, so check its pricing page for current limits.

Which is better for product photos and background removal?

Both remove backgrounds on paid plans, and both now handle video backgrounds too. Canva's help center says background removal is on paid plans, and Canva Pro describes it as unlimited. Adobe Express lists background removal among its quick actions, with video background removal on Premium; Adobe also offers free daily background removals in Firefly with an Adobe account. See our guide on how to remove a background in Canva for the steps.

Neither is a catalog photo editor. They're best for putting a product into an ad or post, not for producing hundreds of marketplace-ready main images. For that, a dedicated tool is usually faster; our Canva alternatives for product photos covers the options.

Which is better for social media scheduling?

Adobe Express includes a Content Scheduler on every plan: 1 account per social network and 1 shared calendar on Free, 3 accounts per network and 3 shared calendars on Premium. Canva's Content Planner is available on Pro, Business and Education, and its help center lists Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Slack and Tumblr, noting that the list changes. If you want to schedule without paying, Adobe Express has the edge.

Adobe publishes a clear US price; Canva's depends on your country and billing period, and some regions also have a cheaper Pro Lite tier. Compare the two on your own local prices and on yearly versus monthly billing.

Canva vs Adobe Express: which should you choose?

  • Choose Canva if you want the most templates, several brand kits, desktop apps and a well-known tool your team or freelancers already use.
  • Choose Adobe Express if you want Adobe Fonts, clear generative-credit allowances, a free social scheduler, or you already pay for Creative Cloud (which includes Express Premium on some plans).
  • For a 2-person team, Adobe Express Teams at US$7.99 per license is easy to price; check Canva Business in your region to compare.

A third option for sellers who mostly need product images

If most of your designs start with a product photo, AiArter (our product) may fit alongside or instead of a design suite. It keeps your product as shot and generates only the background: a white main image costs 4 credits and a lifestyle scene 8 credits. It also has design templates for sale banners and social posts and brand kits, from $12/month. Its template library is much smaller than Canva's or Adobe's, it's web only, and its social scheduler is on Pro and Studio only, so it doesn't replace a full design suite.

Start with a product photo: get a white main image and a lifestyle scene, then drop it into a sale banner template.

On both tools, some templates, photos and fonts are premium-only, and a design can mix free and paid elements. Before you use a design in a paid ad or on packaging, check that every element is licensed for your plan.

How to choose between Canva and Adobe Express

  1. List your weekly design jobs: social posts, ads, banners, flyers, short videos.
  2. Check local prices for Canva Pro and Adobe Express Premium on the billing period you'll actually use.
  3. Check what you already pay for. Some Creative Cloud plans include Express Premium.
  4. Rebuild one real design in each free plan and time how long it takes.
  5. Test scheduling with the social accounts you post to most.
  6. Try the paid trial of the one you prefer before committing to a yearly plan.
